Normal skin
Normal skin has a strong and balanced skin barrier. The outer layer of the skin, the stratum corneum, functions well and protects you against external influences.
- Balanced sebum production : Not too greasy and not too dry.
- Fine pores : Barely visible pores.
- Smooth texture : Soft and supple to the touch.
- Even complexion : Few or no irregularities or spots.
- Little sensitivity : Rarely suffer from irritation or redness.
Combined skin
Combination skin, also called combination skin, is a skin type that shows characteristics of both dry and oily skin. The T-zone (forehead, nose and chin) is usually oilier, while the cheeks and sometimes the jawline are drier or normal.
- Oily T-zone : Shiny and oily forehead, nose and chin, often with enlarged pores.
- Dry or normal cheeks : Less oil production and sometimes even dryness in the cheek areas.
- Blemishes : Pimples, blackheads and acne are more common in the T-zone.
- Uneven texture : Smooth and soft cheeks, while the T-zone can have a coarser texture.
- Variable sensitivity : Oily areas are prone to breakouts, while dry areas can be prone to flaking and irritation.
Sensitive skin
With sensitive skin, the outer layer of the skin is damaged. Proper functioning of the stratum corneum is essential for healthy skin. After all, the outer layer of the skin consists of lipids – the 'cement' of the skin cells – that keep the skin in balance, regulate the moisture balance and provide elasticity and firmness. If the protective stratum corneum is damaged, the skin loses moisture and irritants and bacteria can enter. Sensitive skin is often the result of dry skin, but can also be hereditary. Environmental factors also play a role.
- Redness, irritation and dryness , often due to cosmetics, skincare or weather conditions.
- Burning or stinging sensation when applying products or when exposed to heat/cold.
- Dry, flaky skin that causes discomfort.
- Increased risk of allergic reactions to ingredients in skincare, cosmetics or environmental factors such as pollen.

TIP: If your skin tends towards an oilier type, choose a black konjac sponge. This sponge contains charcoal, which absorbs excess sebum.
