Met eigen ogen gezien: hoe arganolie in Marokko tot leven komt

Seeing it firsthand: how argan oil comes to life in Morocco

Our Content Marketeer Eline went to Marrakech for a week – and yes, a look behind the scenes at argan oil production was also a must. As a Self team member, you can't miss this... Want to see one of our five key ingredients come to life with your own eyes? Say no more!

First, let's taste it...

The visit got off to a delicious start: Eline got to sample three varieties: one jar of honey made with argan oil, one peanut butter with argan oil, and the pure, unroasted argan oil itself. All three were delicious and immediately demonstrated the versatility of this natural ingredient.

Craft in the open air

Then the real work began: Eline followed the traditional process up close, completely outdoors. The Moroccan women spent the day singing, cracking and grinding the argan nuts. The sound of the grinding and the rhythm of their singing made it an unforgettable, vibrant spectacle.

For culinary argan oil, the nuts are first roasted, which gives them their characteristic nutty flavor. For cosmetic oil, like the one we use in our products, the kernels are pressed unroasted. This preserves the natural fatty acids, vitamin E, and antioxidants, perfect for skincare.

---

Our raw argan oil is packed with unsaturated fatty acids, antioxidants and vitamin E

---

It supports the skin barrier, nourishes intensely and gives a healthy, radiant appearance.

---

The artisanal process and the care that characterizes every step ensure that you are not just applying a product to your skin, but a piece of tradition and a natural experience.

This visit made it clear to Eline: the story behind an ingredient makes it even more valuable. At Self, we proudly use this pure argan oil—for products that are soft, nourishing, and effective.
