Wat is het verschil tussen een dag - en nachtcrème?

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE SELF DAY AND NIGHTCREAM?

A question I get A LOT: what is the difference between the day and night cream? Why do you have to use a separate cream? Is there any difference at all? I’ll explain it all in this article!

WHAT IS A DAY & NIGHT CREAM?
There can be an immense difference between a day and night cream. For example, sun protection (SPF) are usually added to day creams. But you don’t need a SPF in your night cream at all! A day cream is needed to protect your skin, not only against the sun, but also against all negative external influences like air pollution, the bad weather, stress, …

A night cream focusses on repairing the skin at night. Brands often offer many options in terms of day cream. Just think about all the different textures you can choose! But in most parts they only offer 1 night cream. Day creams care for the needs your skin has during the day: maybe you need a lighter texture, more SPF protection or maybe you want your dag cream to have a touch of colour to even out your skintone. All is possible. While a night cream has one main function: repair!

SHOULD YOU USE A SEPARATE DAY / NIGHT CREAM?
If your day cream has a colortint or contains SPF, I would say yes. Your skin does not need those at night! Is your day cream just moisturizing? Then you can certainly continue to use it during the night.

AND WHAT ABOUT SELF?
At #SELF we have 1 day cream and 1 night cream. I do not use SPF in my products.

Both our day and our night cream are moisturizing, they work on the outer skinlayers, they have an inflammatory effect, they work anti-bacterial, the skin feels nourished, your skin elasticity improves, … But the night cream is more focused on the nightly recovery and the texture is also much richer. The night cream has been specially developed to deeply nourish and heal the skin. It can therefore also be used for the more mature skin as a day cream and yes, even as an eye cream. The concentrations of vitamins are higher – for example, the vitamin C. Vitamin C makes the recovery function even more intensely!

OH AND PLEASE DO CHOOSE THE RIGHT ONE FOR YOUR SKIN!
Do you have a more mixed skin, use the day cream and possibly you can choose night cream for the night, but you can also just continue to apply the day cream in the evening. You can also use our night cream as an eye cream.

I always recommend that you choose a separate sunscreen protection after your day cream. Always protect the skin you’re in!!

Do you have a really dry skin, then your skin will enjoy our richer night cream, which you can use during the day. Dry eye contours also LOVE a bit of night cream to hydrate!

Let set things straight: you do not need an endless number of jars in your bathroom to have a balanced and correct skincare routine! But there is indeed a difference between a day and night cream, at SELF! 🙂
