In short, a super inspiring lady and creative jack-of-all-trades who retains her authenticity! We love that at SELF and so we're grilling her with our SELF Q&A!! Five questions for… Paulien Riemis!
1.Everyone is busy these days. But at Self we attach a lot of attention to me-time! Do you plan enough time for yourself and how do you arrange the puzzle of work, family and me-time?
Switching off work mode is not easy in my case: I am independent, all alone in my team and I work from home. In the meantime, I have learned to keep the weekends (as) free (as possible) and not to open my laptop all day. I prefer to have breakfast, go to the market, drink coffee in the sun and stroll around the city with my partner or friends. Fortunately, if I have to continue working, it doesn't feel like work because I enjoy it so much!
2. Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn in life. What advice would you give to your younger self?
Your life is not going to remain exactly the same as it is at that moment: so leave room for new things, think critically about your choices (and non-choices) and always put yourself first.
3. What is your ultimate favorite address in Belgium!
Difficult! I still have so much to learn in terms of beauty, but if I may give a tip for some well-deserved me-time: my love and I book a private wellness center every few months to completely relax for a few hours. Our favorite place is L'Eau Pure in Wilrijk.
4. How are you doing with your ambition? On fleek? Which goals are at the top of your priority list in 2017?
Yes! To be honest, I urgently need to start setting some new goals: my big dream to one day design something from my blog is coming true as we speak. And not once, but three different times... Work-wise, I would like to focus extra on efficiency and professionalism in the near future to take my collaborations and company to an even higher level. And finally: my boyfriend and I bought a house in 2017, so renovating and furnishing it will take up a lot of our time! With all pleasure, of course.
5. Oh, you meet a genie-in-a-bottle and you get three wishes. They always say that you shouldn't reveal your wishes, but let's make an exception for once. What are your three wishes?
Haha, I think one of the lessons I got from Genie in Aladdin is “To be my own master. Such a thing would be greater than all the magic and all the treasures in all the world” Only I fear that it is better to work on that instead of hoping for it 🙂 And if I can make one tiny wish: free pizza for everyone !
