Steek jij in februari je geliefde die tegen kanker strijdt een extra hart onder de riem?

Will you give extra encouragement to your loved one who is battling cancer in February?

February is known as the month of love. Instead of focusing on Valentine's Day, at SELF we're sending all our love to everyone battling cancer today.

One in three men and one in four women will develop cancer before their 75th birthday. Breast cancer affects one in nine women. There's a good chance that you too know someone who is battling that *** disease. Will you give your loved one an extra boost this month?

What do you say to someone who has cancer? For fear of inappropriate words, we fall silent or crawl away. But guess what… You can't do anything wrong. Just show up! Your listening ear, gentle shoulder or practical helpline makes the turbulent cancer journey a little more bearable. Or show that you are thinking of him/her with a sweet gift.

Self ♥ Yamina Krossa

Cancer is a theme that is close to our hearts at Self . The idea of doing something special for all those courageous cancer warriors has been bubbling for a long time. When I met Yamina Krossa at an event, our idea finally took shape. Before I tell you about our plans, I would like to introduce this power lady to you. In 2015, after she herself was diagnosed with breast cancer, Yamina started a campaign that campaigned for full reimbursement of breast reconstruction after breast cancer. With success, because then minister Maggie De Block concluded an agreement with the plastic surgeons. Breast reconstructions using own tissue have since been reimbursed, but Yamina's fight against breast cancer continues unabated. She founded the VUB-YAMINA KROSSA FUND, which finances research into a cancer vaccine. The vaccine should help prevent relapse. If you know that 90% of deaths occur after a relapse, then you know how important this is.

  • Together we can contribute little by little and help create a better world!

Don't forget your skin

What Yamina and I have in common? We both try, in our own way, to make life with cancer a little more bearable. Of course I know that skin care is not the first priority in a diagnosis. But strengthening your skin is more important than many think. Cancer medication fights these rapidly dividing cancer cells, but also affects the skin, which contains many rapidly dividing cells, causing patients to often suffer from extremely dry skin, sensitivity, irritation and even wounds. To keep your skin healthy, it is crucial to strengthen the skin barrier. Stay away from products with chemical ingredients and nasties, but care for your skin with natural concentrates that gently treat and strengthen your skin.

Many women tell us that the Self Body Butter and scrub helps keep their skin healthy and supple during chemo or radiation. Messages like this are so gratifying, because they prove that Self is more than a cream in a jar and that our products really make a difference.
