Tijd nemen voor jezelf tijdens de feestdagen

Take time for yourself during the holidays

It's Christmas, I can hardly believe it...It's such a pleasant period, but honestly, it's a busy period for many. Fortunately, the stressful gift giving season is already behind us for most and the Christmas parties are coming.

Is your agenda also overcrowded with dinners and family visits? Fun but tiring! You deserve some rest every now and then, don't forget to take care of yourself. Not everyone likes this period and I certainly understand if people prefer to skip this period.

I'm currently busy with SELF , so many sweet SELF lovers ordered a gift, maybe you are one of them. At the moment we are working hard to ensure that all those nice gifts arrive on time. Which doesn't mean I don't have me moments, taking care of yourself is so important! Today I share my favorite moments and tips that I sometimes think of myself during the holidays.

Moments for myself

Your body occasionally needs some time to recharge. Sometimes it's the little things and it doesn't have to cost much at all. During this period I especially want to be at home and have fun moments with my husband and daughter.

My top 10 cozy moments:

1. Curl up on the couch with a good book or watch a few episodes of my favorite series, I love it.

2. A good glass of wine, candles on, a log on the fire and crawling under a blanket. That's pure enjoyment!

3. Take a bath with a wonderful scrubbing session. Tip: I always add a spoonful of the SELF body scrub to the running water, and I step out of the bath with silky soft skin.

4. A walk with the dog, all those beautiful colors and smells in the forest really help me to escape the daily stress.

5. A coffee or tea break. Are you having a bad day? Then make yourself a delicious cup of coffee, hot chocolate or tea. During my coffee moment I always think about my own happiness and wonder whether I have done something for myself today. Trust me, it really helps!

6. A bunch of flowers brightens up my day and interior. I enjoy that so much!

7. Pamper myself with care products. For me these are of course SELF products. 😉 I love it!

8. Bringing back my most beautiful photos and memories, photos from the old days and recent events that I have already experienced with SELF .

9. Playing games together with the family, not a me moment but an 'us moment'. It is somewhat of a tradition to take out all those board games during the holidays.

10. Last but not least: absolute silence. Turn off the TV, turn off your cell phone and just sit on the couch and do nothing. Sometimes silence can be so helpful!

Simple meal after Christmas

Maybe not a 'me-time' moment, but this tip really fits the list. This year I am cooking for Christmas and I always impose obligations and high expectations on myself. I just really want to pamper my guests, I want to be the perfect hostess.

This year it is a completely homemade menu, but you can rest assured that I am actually not a kitchen princess. Normally I practice my Christmas menu in advance and this year it just didn't work out due to my busy schedule, oops! 😉 It will be stressful for a while, but it will certainly be super fun! I always loved Christmas as a child and I want to pass on the same feeling to my daughter Michelle.

After Christmas things are always a little less fancy. What's on the menu the days after Christmas? Simple food and usually some leftovers from the Christmas meal. A golden tip, because after all that hard work you don't want to spend hours in the kitchen anymore, even if I don't. 🙂

Plan days off without obligations

Schedule moments where you really don't have to do anything at all. As an entrepreneur, it is of course difficult to be completely offline, but it is best to press the pause button every now and then. For example, you can put your mobile phone and laptop aside for half an hour in the evening and do nothing at all. This way you give your body and mind peace!

I would like to wish you an enchanting Christmas and a wonderful 2019 full of beautiful SELF moments.

Love, Team SELF
