Suffering from a winter dip?

We cannot hide it: the days are still terribly short, the sun rarely shows up and our vitamin D level is slowly but surely declining. During this gray period, many of us suffer from winter blues, or the winter blues. To arm you against these bad feelings, I wrote 4 short but practical tips to get through the dark winter months!

Tip 1: Get some fresh air

It is indeed very attractive to crawl deep under a blanket when the weather is cold and bleak outside and the sun is hiding far away, but still try to get outside every day. Preferably as early as possible in the morning when the light is the bluest, OR when the sun is shining because then you immediately get some vitamin D! Staying indoors is cozy and nice and warm, but it doesn't make that winter blues better! If you really suffer from too little light, you can start with light therapy! Philips has such light therapy lamps that use blue light sessions to counteract melatonin (which makes you sleepy) throughout the day!

Tip 2: Book a holiday or outing

What always helps is to create good prospects! Do your research and start looking for your next holiday destination! Browse holiday books, look online at beautiful pictures of paradise destinations. It is of course very nice if you can break your winter with a short trip to the sun. But if that's not possible, booking for later in the year is also nice to boost your happiness levels, because admit it? Having a holiday coming up and counting down is always fun, right?

Tip 4: Eat healthy

All those heavy dinners during the holidays, lots of sugar and fast food, don't exactly make you happy! Better yet, your energy levels will really go through the roof!
