Mothers Day. The day of all mothers. But… at Self we don't like box thinking. Of course, all those wonderful moms deserve pounds of pampering and kind words. But maybe you had to say goodbye to your mom way too soon / is your bond not too good and does your aunt, bestie, grandmother or neighbor mean the world to you? Well, then Mother's Day is for them too! May 9 is the day to put your favorite woman in the spotlight!
And no, that doesn't mean you have to look for an expensive and exclusive gift. Mother's Day is not about expensive gifts, but about enjoying together and making beautiful memories. A mother-child weekend
City trips, I miss them so much! Now that Michelle is almost 9, a mother-daughter weekend seems absolutely wonderful. A few days of q-time with the two of us in a cool city, with more than enough time for nice chats. Now that she still likes to share her secrets with me, I have to take advantage of them :-).
Delicious food
At a restaurant, without smartphones or screens nearby, that exclusive attention for each other comes naturally. So a meal is always appreciated. Hopefully soon the three of us will be able to put our legs under the table. Isn't that for now? Then a home-made breakfast in bed also scores good points!
Unique portrait of you and your mom
My smartphone is full of photos that I barely do anything with. Recognizable? We take lots of photos, but putting together photo albums is not for me. I quickly find that hanging photos on the wall is too much. Still, I like a personal touch in my home. A while ago I met artist Lieve Ulburghs and the promising Klaartje Pollenus who make the most beautiful portraits. I was immediately sold! Exactly what I was looking for!
