Bye bye, summer! Autumn is clearly back in the country. The perfect time to pay extra attention to your skin care. Because as wonderful as those summer months are, the warmest period of the year is unfortunately not kind to your skin! Salt, chlorinated water and sunlight put your skin under considerable pressure.
Where chlorine and salt mainly have a drying effect on the skin, the UV rays in sunlight cause deeper damage. UVB rays damage your outer skin layer. They stimulate the pigment cells in your skin and ensure a tan, but unfortunately can also cause sunburn and skin cancer. UVA rays penetrate even deeper into the skin and affect the lower skin layers. They promote skin aging, reduce the production of collagen and elastin - important building blocks that keep your skin firm and supple - and cause wrinkles, skin spots, sunburn and skin cancer.
And pimples are also the result of a hot summer. Sunscreen, sweat, dirt particles… clog your skin pores. Your sebum production increases, as a kind of built-in defense mechanism of your skin against the sun. This combination is detrimental to the development of pimples. Strangely enough, you can suffer even more from them after the summer. After all, sun exposure ensures that your skin renews itself faster. After the summer, the exact opposite happens. The skin renewal process takes longer, which causes dead skin cells to accumulate and your pores to easily become clogged.
My remedy for that summer violence? Scrub and moisturize!
That's exactly why we launched the iconic Body Care Duo set. It combines our deluxe scrub and delicate body butter. This top combo gives your skin the boost it needs. The Deluxe scrub contains fine salt minerals from the Dead Sea that eliminate accumulated dead skin cells and impurities and make your skin silky soft again. The perfect base for a lick of our rich body butter! The Fine Delicate Body Butter nourishes your skin deeply and helps restore the moisture balance.
Regular exfoliation is the key to healthy, glowing skin. Not convinced yet? Here are 6 reasons why.
- Boost for your circulation : A scrub works like a good massage and gives your circulation a boost. And you can see that, because a well-circulated skin looks healthier.
- Get rid of dead skin cells : Our skin consists of three layers: the epidermis, the dermis and the subcutaneous connective tissue. Together, they ensure that the skin continuously renews itself. New skin cells are created at the bottom and push the older skin cells upwards. The oldest cells are at the very top. They are dead, but that does not mean they are useless. They protect your skin against harmful external intruders and against drying out. However, an excess of dead skin cells makes your skin gray and dull. With a gentle peeling you remove the excess dead cells. Your skin shines and feels soft again.
- Better hydration : Healthy skin can better absorb active ingredients in care products. Regular scrubbing keeps your skin supple and hydrated.
- Fewer pimples : Your face also benefits from scrubbing. Because your skin is much more delicate, it is best to always use a suitable product. A soft facial scrub removes dead skin cells and impurities and prevents clogged pores. This way, you will suffer less from those annoying pimples.
- Bye bye ingrown hairs : There’s nothing more annoying than ingrown hairs… Because they can’t get through the outer layer of skin, these hairs grow further under the skin. Regular exfoliation removes dead skin cells and makes your skin a bit thinner, making it easier for hairs to find their way out.
Last but not least: pampering your skin also feels like a bit of SELF-time! Treat yourself to a mini wellness moment in the bathroom every now and then. The perfect feel-good remedy!

When not to scrub?
If your skin is completely upset, even a mild scrub can be a bit too much. In the case of a severe acne outbreak, allergic reaction or other serious skin reaction, focus on good care and nutrition of your skin. Also in the case of sunburn, cuts or other open wounds, it is better to leave scrubbing for a while. That does not mean that you cannot use our scrubs at all. Add two tablespoons of the Deluxe Body Scrub to the bath water. The perfect recipe for a wonderful moment of self-care and a hydrating boost for your skin.
