Did you know that... up to 80% of people, according to research, do not know their skin type at all or give themselves the wrong skin type? To achieve beautiful skin, it is very important that you determine the correct skin type or have it determined by a professional. This way you can choose the right care and products that suit your skin!
HOW DO YOU DETERMINE YOUR SKIN TYPE?
Do you really have no idea at all? Do you only use a few products that you think suit your skin? Then you need to give your skin a reset. Wash your skin with water in the morning and then wait a while. Do not apply any further products, but wait a while and then you can best examine your skin and determine whether you have dry, combination or oily skin.
A DRY SKIN?
Your skin will feel tight very quickly after washing. You may sometimes suffer from flakes, dryness lines and a dull appearance. Dry skin can also often be somewhat sensitive or have a disrupted barrier function. I will soon explain to you exactly what this barrier function is in a separate article. A barrier function that is disrupted loses nutrients and causes your skin to dry out. You can also have dry skin due to too little sebum. Sebum makes the skin supple and too much sebum causes a greasy skin type.
DRY OR DEHYDRATED?
A mistake that is often made is that people think they have dry skin, but in fact they have normal to combination skin that is dehydrated. This is another skin problem that I would also like to discuss in a separate article!
A MIXED SKIN TYPE?
Many people fall under this skin type: there are parts of the face (often the T-zone of the forehead, nose, chin) that are a bit oilier and parts that feel a bit drier or tight (often the cheeks). Finding the right products for this skin is not easy at all!
A GREASY SKIN?
You can recognize oily skin because the skin quickly starts to shine, feels greasy and starts producing sebum. Oily skin often also suffers from impurities, pimples and blackheads. Oily skin has a risk of dehydration because many care products for oily skin types dry out the skin somewhat. This sometimes gives you the opposite effect: the skin will produce even more sebum, making you shine even more!
I will write a separate article for each skin type with more explanation and as promised, you will soon receive an article about the skin barrier and the difference between dry skin and dehydrated skin!
